#55 job thread in Off Topic

I work as a Head Administrator for a slowly dying Esport in Europe.
Pretty chill, get to work from home. Co workers are nice, but I have a lot of tedious conversations with mey-mey kiddos.
Pays a buttload and whats best, nobody even knows about that. They all think we dont get any sponsorship money, but we simply put everything in our own pocket. Especially now since one of the Head Admins resigned a couple weeks ago.
Just gonna do this a few more years and buy an island in the pacific to grow old there.
All in all, not great, not terrible... could be worse.

#26 ETF2L and the Fresh Meat Challenge #2 in TF2 General Discussion

Regarding dummtms screenshots we decided that it would have been a bit extreme to default the match, which would have led to them dropping from the tournament since it was a knockout stage match.
We basically told AustinN that his memes are aids and gave them a yellow card. Anything similar again and they will get dropped by us.
Mind that nobody actually used a slur in that match technically. The scoreboard had to be exactly in this order for this poor „joke“ to work.
Also worth noting that Iirc this was never reported by anyone, we stumbled across it ourselves.
So yes, the punishment seems weak at first glance, but the other option we thought would have punished the newbies that Austin clearly influenced so we decided to not screw over the other 5 players a but instead made clear that this behavior is not tolerated in our league should they participate in future competitions.

Imo it is a difference if newbies get baited into doing shit by their „mentor“ and a seasoned Prem veteran racially insulting a specific person on twitter.

#12 Copenhagen Games 2019 prize pool & format announced in News
Scruff_Why is there going to be badlands at cph but logjam in etf2l this season, seems an unnecessary disparity, and logically should be logjam for cph as well?

ETF2L and Copenhagen Games are independent from eachother. Logjam is in Europe fairly new (again), will have only been played for one season. In ESEA it was never in the rotation. We are still hoping to get an NA team over here, so having a map like Logjam in is kinda meh at this point.
Also most teams at LAN are mix teams. For those it is much easier to get some co-ordination going than on an somewhat unknown map. Next year could possibly be a different story.

#76 RGL 6s league in TF2 General Discussion

Personally, I cannot approve this blatant attempt to help the comptetitive TF2 community to get closer to a unification point with Valve with the undeniable intention to pave the way for TF2 to become an E-Sport.

Our ETF2L staff has, for years, been devoted to finally put an end to Team Fortress 2; especially the gamemode that is commonly known as "Highlander". Ever since our overlord and saviour Permzilla - may he find peace in his exile - (happy birthday) joined the admin ranks on a warm spring friday on 25th may 2012, it has been our mission to follow him in his quest to kill comp TF2. In these almost 7 years we have put countless hours of hard work into sabotaging the league and thus the community from the inside. I mean: we added ctf_turbine in Season 18, we played koth_reservoir in the Highlander Prem Grand Finals (god bless KkaltuU, possibly the best soldier we ever had)... But people would still sign up and enjoy the games. >.<
That's when we decided to cancel our sponsorship-deal with Tte-SPORTS, hoping the top talent would simply lose interest in competing. Sure, as of late our attempts have become more desperate and obvious, like the promotion of not one, but two weebs to Head Admins or simply rigging public polls in order to kill the best map to ever have lived: cp_badlands (press f)... But we still truly believe that we eventually - through more "progressive" mapchoices and especially through the absolutely random bans we are dishing out - will succeed and earn our place at the holy table of our predecessors Permzilla and SonnyBlack.
How dare you hazard this Greater Good after all that we have accomplished. We are soooo close, and here you stand, suggesting individual freedom, creativity and - worst of all- change, sigafoo?

Shame on you. SHAME... ON... YOU!11!1!!

#33 Copenhagen Games 2019 TF2 - 6v6 & Highlander in LAN Discussion

Well, our main goal is to make sure people can play both in the HL tournament and the 6v6 tournament. Which means we can’t schedule games for both competitions at the same time.
As for server/stream and other technical issues, we are meeting several times before LAN (already have had one) in order to test run everything. Our staff will also be on site from Monday-Wednesday to make sure everything (and there is a high priority on gameservers) runs like it’s supposed to run by the time the matches start. It is an ambitious goal, but we are confident that we can achieve it. Planning has started as early as August, although nothing was even announced at the time.
As to people being late, we hope that our buffertimes will be enough to account for that and that the players will take this more seriously when they see how much effort we are putting into making sure everything works from our side.
Of course, in the end, there will be delays. Like you said: there hasn’t been a lan ever where there weren’t. What we can do is keep them to a minimum. Having a German in your tournament team helps with being on time ;P (Like my German DNA dictates, I loath delays/waiting)
